Barry Siler is the Chief Executive Officer of Kodiak Fuels Inc and Price Risk Consultants, two of the premier consulting companies involved in corporate hedging and risk management. Barry launched his consulting company, Kodiak Fuels, in 1994, initially specializing in the airline sector. Since then, Siler has expanded his client base, and is now involved in jet fuel, natural gas, high sulfur fuel oil, crude oil, distillates and other refined products.
During the past 37 years, Barry has experience as an energy trader, marketer, refinery business manager, B2B internet platform developer, salesman and consultant. He has worked for Dow Chemical, Ferrell Petroleum, Challenger Petroleum, Mieco Inc., World Fuel Services, CheMatch.com, China Aviation, Williams, Sunkyong and Arizona Clean Fuels before establishing his consulting company.
Kodiak Fuels was established primarily to support Siler’s relationship with Southwest Airlines where he and Gary Kelly, then CFO of Southwest Airlines, developed and implemented one of the most creative and successful jet fuel hedging programs.
Barry continues to expand his consulting business by utilizing a pro-active hedging style, developing client specific programs with foundations that can change with the dynamics of the energy market and commodities. He uses an aggressive and creative style in hedging while preserving a sincere commitment to his clients founded on sound principles with the highest degree of integrity.
Barry was born in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1945. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Albion College in 1967, majoring in Mathematics and Chemistry with a minor in Physics. In college, Barry was an All-Conference golfer, an All-Conference football player, Small College All-American football, Most Valuable MIAA Conference football and played for the New Orleans Saints. He lives in Houston, Texas with his wife Susan, has 3 children and currently 8 grandchildren.
